The Power of Positive Thinking

Learning to harness the power of positivity can change your world.  We’ve all caught ourselves staring into the rearview mirror, focusing on regrets.  We feel bad, then we beat ourselves up for feeling bad, then we beat ourselves up more because we feel bad for feeling bad. It’s a vicious cycle, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Here’s how to inject more positivity into your life.

  1. Be Thankful: When times are difficult, appreciate what you DO have. Become more grateful for the blessings and the choices you have, for who you can become, and for the people around you who support you. Your energy will come flowing back.
  2. Practice Positive Self-Talk: Talk to yourself like you would talk to your best friend. If you were coaching your absolute dearest friend in the whole world, what would you say?
  3. Keep Perspective: There is value in looking back as well. Remember the good times, and believe that more are coming. Reflect on past hard times. What lessons did you walk away with from those experiences? These types of reflections help you gain reflection.
  4. Give Yourself Credit: People are so hard on themselves. Acknowledge the small steps you took this week: holding a door open for someone or saying thank you. More often it’s the small moments in life that carry the most value.

The more you practice these tips, the more the regrets will start to fade. By developing a habit of positive thinking you will start to love yourself and gain valuable perspective.
