A Healthy Community from the Ground Up
A healthy community relies on strong partnerships. Everyone has to get involved if we want to be the healthiest community in the nation. We’re proud to partner with local businesses through our Carrot Champion program, bring a community wide walking club together monthly with the West Orange Walkers, and you’ll even see Healthy West Orange at several health and wellness locations around town.
Healthy West Orange Building, Winter Garden
The Healthy West Orange Building serves as our home and location for educational programming like Community Connections. Local nonprofits and organizations can also leverage the Healthy West Orange Grove community space room for events and mission expansion.
HWO Arts and Heritage Center, Oakland
The Healthy West Orange Arts and Heritage Center at the Town of Oakland at 126 W Petris Ave, Oakland, FL 34760 is a beautiful community gathering space, set in the heart of historic Oakland along the West Orange Trail. The Center provides space for art and heritage displays, along with a central location for health and wellness programs. The Healthy West Orange Arts and Heritage Center is committed to preserving Oakland’s past, present and future. Additionally, there are outdoor spaces for rest and enjoyment, Westly’s Herb Garden, outdoor public restrooms, and an outdoor concession area for ice cream, snacks and beverages, called Oakland General.
HWO Wellness Park, Ocoee
Healthy West Orange Wellness Park in Ocoee at Ocoee Commerce Pkwy, Ocoee, FL 34761 is located right across from the Ocoee Police Department! Stroll a half-mile multipurpose trail around two ponds, with a beautiful boardwalk across the middle of the large pond, and enjoy the water view in shaded seating. Get your workout on at four shaded stations along the trail with fitness equipment. Each have QR codes that will connect users to a fitness app that can track steps and reps. Parallel parking spots are available along Ocoee Commerce Parkway.
HWO Heritage and Cultural Center, Winter Garden
The Healthy West Orange Heritage and Cultural Center at the Winter Garden Heritage Foundation at 21 E Plant St, Winter Garden, FL 34787 provides a space for wellness education, event activations, and a HUBB Direct location; an interactive resource that connects residents to local health services.This location also houses the Winter Garden Heritage Foundation, west Orange County’s historical archive, and the Winter Garden Heritage Foundation offices.
HWO Boardwalk at Oakland Nature Preserve
Healthy West Orange Boardwalk at Oakland Nature Preserve at 747 Machete Trail, Oakland, FL 34760. Be sure to check out this wheelchair, walker, and stroller accessible boardwalk! Take a walk 2/3-mile trail through mostly shaded wetlands, to a large, covered pavilion overlooking Lake Apopka. The boardwalk features signage along the way to identify plants and trees, and many opportunities to see alligators, wading birds and turtles.
Wellness Walking Path, Health Central Hospital
Walking Path at Orlando Health Health Central Hospital at 10000 W. Colonial Dr, Ocoee, FL 34761. This path was made for walkin'! We were very excited to partner with our friends at Orlando Health on this one-mile, handicap accessible, paved path loop around the campus. The path starts at Health Central Hospital, goes to Old Winter Garden Road, Hempel Avenue and the Orlando Health Advanced Rehabilitation Institute. You'll find signs throughout with wellbeing activities and benches.
